About

I’m a licensed marriage & family therapist based in the San Francisco Bay Area in California.

Hi, I’m Kimberly Martin!

LMFT Therapist Kimberly Martin, founder of Kindness Matters Therapy, standing against a calm scene in front of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge

Founder of KMT. Curious & creative go-getter. Big fan of feelings.

I have always been moved by meaningful relationships and seeing people reach for their dreams — whether it’s my own clients or even watching American Idol auditions. These moments light my soul on fire, and it’s part of why I feel so aligned in my work as a therapist.

Growing up, I always felt too sensitive or too soft. As an adult, I realized that tough love doesn’t work for everyone (it certainly didn’t for me 🙋🏻‍♀️). It took years, but once I began exploring my own feelings & experiences and expanding my own self-care toolkit, I learned how to truly chase after my own dreams (helping you with yours!).

Outside the office

I enjoy baking and sunny outdoor picnics. Apart from breathing exercises, I use weightlifting as my mindfulness practice.

In their words

People in my life describe me as warm, welcoming, and open-minded, and past clients have said they can feel my commitment to truly understanding them.

How I show up for you as a therapist

Understanding

In our work together, I tend to be more casual, collaborative, and relational. This looks a lot like asking purposeful questions and taking the time to get to know your internal experiences and how you navigate challenges.

Patient

Good things take time, and being vulnerable and exploring complex experiences takes trust. I’m committed to showing up without judgment and meeting you where you are in your process. Our work together is a collaboration.

Creative

I have a strong creative side and am passionate about staying up-to-date in this field. I pull from a variety of different therapeutic practices and training in order to support clients with their goals, and I am often looking for new ways of modifying interventions and activities to better fit your needs and goals.
